(Deadline: April 2, 2013)
With support from the Chancellor’s Fund for Excellence, the Mizzou Advantage Preparing Future Faculty Postdoctoral Fellowships annually hosts postdoctoral teaching fellows from recent PhD awardees of the University of Missouri. Each of the areas of Mizzou Advantage hosts a fellow, whose duties include teaching the equivalent of two undergraduate courses per semester. The program is administered by the Office of Postdoctoral Education in conjunction with the Mizzou Advantage Education Coordinator.
Selected fellows work on the precise nature of the courses they teach with their home departments or related academic unit and the Mizzou Advantage Education Coordinator. Two courses in the home department are intended to help advance the postdoctoral fellow’s academic career. The other two courses are interdisciplinary and cross-listed and speak directly to at least one area of Mizzou Advantage. These courses incorporate innovative delivery formats and are taught as part-semester or distance education courses, or as a sophomore seminar for the Honors College.
The responsibilities for the position include 40% teaching, 20% course development, and 40% research. The Mizzou Advantage Fellows participate in the Preparing Future Faculty program and other opportunities for professional development, including a job market seminar created for them by the Office of Postdoctoral Education.
