Overcoming Barriers for Regulating Environmental Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals
Summary
While discovering scientific evidence of chemicals’ negative effects on human health can be a huge feat, it can sometimes pale in comparison to the challenge of convincing governments to incorporate the findings into public policy.
To explore this issues, Mizzou Advantage funded a networking grant for a team of researchers and policy experts at MU to host a workshop to examine barriers that have prevented governments from incorporating findings from endocrine disruption research and taking regulatory action to reverse the trends in endocrine-related disorders. Led by Led by MU biology professor and researcher Frederick vom Saal , the group includes fifteen external and three internal participants with expertise in science, medicine, environment, communications, policy, regulations, economics, history and national and international security.
