Food for Thought: Food, Body Image & the Media
The proposed research will be used (1) in the development of an interactive theater piece, to be performed on the MU campus, to stimulate awareness and discussion of controversial issues related to the topics of food, media, and body image; and (2) research how the use of new technologies and mass media messages influence perceptions and communication about food and body image among college students. This research project fits with the Food for the Future Mizzou Advantage area, in addition to a possible overlap with New Media. Students on the team will not only from engaging in research leading to presentation but also from discovering how research can be used in a practical, artistic project.
