Faculty & Staff
The Mizzou Advantage initiative provides fiscal, networking and other support to MU faculty and staff through numerous channels.
Research. Through periodic calls for proposals, the initiative funds interdisciplinary research projects expected to result in scholarly publications and additional extramural funding. Limited discretionary funds are also available for small requests (less than $5,000). Contact a Mizzou Advantage Faculty Facilitator for more information.
Targeted Communications. Use the Mizzou Advantage Communicate-On-Demand tool to quickly and easily create digital or print publications about MU’s assets, research expertise, and personnel. Compile professional marketing pieces including single pages, booklets, PowerPoint slides, print ads, and video mailers. This intuitive tool is free to the MU community.
Conferences/Speakers. Fiscal and logistical support is available for high-impact conferences, as well as for bringing prominent speakers to campus. For more information, contact a Mizzou Advantage Faculty Facilitator for more information.
Professional Development. The initiative reimburses up to $2,000 for interdisciplinary professional development opportunities outside of a faculty member’s or staff member’s given area of expertise. Additionally, professional development awards of $1,000 per semester are provided to faculty or staff who mentor undergraduate research teams.
Travel. Funds are available to reimburse travel to visit foundations and funding agencies. The travel is expected to help build relationships with agency program officers prior to proposal submissions for significant external funding.
Educational initiatives. Networking opportunities and fiscal resources support the creation of new educational programs (courses, curricula, certificates, and majors) for undergraduates and graduate students. Contact the Mizzou Advantage Education Facilitator for more information.
