Opportunities Within MU
Mizzou Advantage funds are intended to help elevate MU’s stature, support transformative research and deliver high impact outcomes. In order to invest as strategically as possible and ensure a fair evaluation process, a formal call for proposals will be posted and communicated. Proposals will be evaluated on their strengths and ties to Mizzou Advantage’s goals. Mizzou Advantage typically does not provide funding for unsolicited requests that do not conform to our structured evaluation process. If you have a time-sensitive need for a Mizzou Advantage investment in order to act on an unanticipated, high impact opportunity, please contact a Mizzou Advantage facilitator to discuss.
Through periodic calls for proposals, the initiative funds interdisciplinary research projects expected to result in scholarly publications and additional extramural funding. Limited discretionary funds are also available for small requests (less than $5,000). Contact a Mizzou Advantage Faculty Facilitator for more information.
Research Council Grants are awarded to support research, scholarship, and creative achievement conducted by tenured, tenure-track, and ranked non-tenure track faculty members, with an earned doctorate, at the level of assistant professor and above. Research Council Grants provide funds for project expenses totaling as much as $10,000.
The Mizzou Advantage will contribute up to $600 (domestic) or $900 (international) for upper-class undergraduate students to travel with a faculty mentor to professional meetings, collaborative events, and conferences related to Mizzou Advantage areas.
These awards provide travel funds for graduate students who are presenting their MU funded research at professional meetings related to Mizzou Advantage areas.
