Featured Profile: Edward Yeh
Renowned cardiologist and University of Missouri leader Dr. Edward Yeh has made landmark contributions to the medical field.
Yeh is a leader in the field of onco-cardiology, which focuses on providing personalized cardiac care to cancer patients. Funded by leading organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas and the U.S. Department of Defense, Yeh has dedicated several decades to understanding the relationship between heart disease and cancer. His research helps medical professionals treat cancer patients while minimizing the risk of damage to their hearts, a side effect of certain chemotherapy drugs.
Yeh has written more than 200 scientific papers and book chapters in the fields of cardiology, biochemistry and medicine. He has held prominent positions in medical societies including memberships in the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians.
Over his distinguished career, Yeh has been recognized with many honors including research awards from the American Heart Association and the Arthritis Foundation. In 2016 he was elected as a Fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Yeh joined the university faculty in 2016, when he was selected as the School of Medicine’s new chair. “I welcome the opportunity to help advance MU’s stature as a leading academic medical center,” he says.
