Featured Profile: Fritz Cropp

Dr. Fritz Cropp is extending quality journalism from the University of Missouri to all corners of the world.

Cropp has been a guiding force in the School of Journalism’s stature as the world’s journalism school. Since he assumed leadership in the school’s international office in 2001, participation has more than tripled.  Approximately one-third of the school’s students study abroad, and the majority of faculty have had at least one international experience. In the same time period, the number of incoming international exchange students has quadrupled.

Cropp also serves as the director of the Missouri Transatlantic Center, which works to advance academic relationships by promoting conversation between the United States and the European Union. Under his guidance, the journalism school established an internship and media studies program in Brussels and created journalism programs in Russia and Moldova. In 2008, Cropp helped send nearly 60 students to the Olympic Games in Beijing to work with the Olympic News Service.

For his significant achievements, Cropp has received numerous honors including the Provost’s Award for Leadership in International Education and the Dick Alberding International Marketing Communications award.

Dr. Fritz Cropp is associate dean for Global Programs and an associate professor of journalism studies at the Missouri School of Journalism.
