Featured Profile: Garnett Stokes
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Garnett S. Stokes leads individuals and organizations through choices.
Before coming to the University of Missouri, Stokes served as provost and interim president at Florida State University; prior to that, she was dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia. At both institutions, Stokes was credited with building a climate of support for faculty, staff and students – a goal she continues to focus on at Mizzou.

In addition to her work as an administrator, Stokes is a respected scholar. Her research has focused on the use
of biodata – biographical information about work and life experiences – in relation to vocational outcomes, including personnel selection and promotion decisions. She has shared her expertise through numerous academic publications, and as a consultant. Stokes has helped businesses, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies develop their hiring procedures.
Dr. Garnett Stokes holds a B.A. in psychology from Carson-Newman College and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Georgia. She is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
